Professor Padmakar V. Panat

Professor Padmakar V. Panat Photo © Gunawant A. Agashe This page is dedicated to the memory of Professor Padmakar V. Panat who passed away at the age of 65 on the morning of January 20, 2009, after a prolonged illness that stretched over eight months or so.

He was known to us as a physicist and teacher par excellence, as a fiercely honest and outspoken academician who stood for the values of academics, as a colleague, and above all, as a personal friend to many of us. He was a true teacher at heart: even during his illness, he was full of plans to teach subjects that he had not taught earlier.

He spent the last two-and-half years of his life as Professor Emeritus at the Centre for Modeling & Simulation, SPPU. Almost till the end, he was engaged in collaborative research with people at the Centre. He was a constant source of inspiration and support to all of us.

Below is a collection of personal reminiscences about Professor Panat.
