Ashish Bhole Ashish Bhole is a postdoctoral researcher at the Division of Computational Sciences and Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. His research interests are computational mathematics and high-performance computing. He has a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Universite Cote d'Azur, France. His doctoral research is about computational modeling of fusion plasma. He has a master's in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Kanpur and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from BAMU Aurangabad. He prefers to work on curiosity driven and interdisciplinary topics.

Abstract Fusion energy holds immense promise as a clean and abundant source of power. In this talk, I will introduce some of the outstanding challenges in building viable fusion reactors. I will motivate the need for a combined approach utilizing theory, experimentation, and cutting-edge computing to help us overcome these hurdles. I will then introduce advanced computational methods specifically designed to simulate the complex plasma instabilities that arise within fusion reactors. Finally, we will discuss how these powerful methods can be applied to solve a wider range of problems across fluid dynamics, plasma physics, astrophysics, etc.
