Curricula and teaching programmes

Curriculum was up to date and arrangement subjects was good to have understanding of concepts from basic to advance level.

Teachers

All the teaching staff was capable of delivering his/her understanding or knowledge about each topic and according to level of understanding of each student.

Overall experience

Overall experience was good. Work environment was flexible and we were allowed to use all computing facilities to full extent as per our convenience. This course helped us to learn basics and foundations of modeling and simulation which is important in current trend of data modeling. This course and department was far more advanced than previous institute in richness of subject contents and computing facility. Due to COVID-19 our batch had faced lot of challenges like change in teaching and exam pattern but our department was always supportive in all situations and helped to carry out all things in systematic and organised manner. All issues related to timeline of submission were addressed by faculty in very gentle way.

Impact on career and growth

Yes surely. No other course in India provides MTech degree in 2 years of time span in Modeling and Simulation and this point is considered by organizations during hiring process.

Advice for current and future students

Your central focus should be on learning coding skills.<br /> Next thing is to learn probability, statistics and basics of major electives.<br /> Then application of above things using problem solving and optimization techniques.<br /> Finally sufficient number of projects to prepare your resume.

Which direction should CMS grow in?

The first semester should be centrally focused on basics of programming, probability and statistics.<br /> The second semester should be centrally focused on foundations of major electives and optimization techniques.<br /> The third semester should be centrally focused on problem solving, mini projects.<br /> The fourth semester should kept as it is.<br /> There should be less number of assignment and more number of group and individual projects which we can mention on resume while facing interviews before 4th semester.

Further thoughts

The SCMS department should have dedicated team for publicity and to take a periodic feedback from organization in which previously placed student are working.
