Applications are invited for one Project Assistant (PA) under DST-INSPIRE Research Funding (GOI-E-209) at the Department of SCMS, SP Pune University. Appointments will be made as per availability of suitable candidates for the respective post. Please note that these posts are purely on temporary basis and for the stipulated project period.
Project Assistant (Open)
- Eligibility :
M.Sc in Physics (students awaiting final Semester results are also eligible) with strong foundation in quantum mechanics, solid state physics and condensed matter physics. Familiarity with linux operating system (any flavors) and computer languages (Python/Fortran/C) is recommended. Working experience in the field of computational materials science would be an advantage.
- Work description :
The project is based on computational study of thermal and electrical transport properties at nano-scale in tetrahedrally coordinated metal chalcogenides from ab initio and classical MD perspectives.
- About the group :
Our group at SCMS, SPPU has an expertise in ab initio studies of thermal transport in materials within the framework of Density Functional Theory and Boltzmann Transport Equation. Our studies are mainly applicable to the thermoelectrics technology, which is based on the principle of interconversion of heat and electricity. Thermal transport is also relevant to other technologies, such as nanoelectronics, photovoltaics etc, to address the issue of thermal management.
Emoluments
- Rs 25000/- per month consolidated
Duration
- Initially up to 30/06/2021, likely to be continued for next two years depending upon the performance and/or continuation of the project.
